Nashville, Tenn. – Today, Nashville-based real estate development firm, The Mathews Company, announced the promotion of its longtime Vice President, Jody Moody, to President.
The Mathews Company’s Chief Executive Officer, Bert Mathews, made the announcement saying:
“Jody has been my right hand for nearly three decades. His knowledge, experience, and strong work ethic have made a vital impact on the real estate community both here in Nashville and across the nation. He is actively engaged both locally and nationally in the Urban Land Institute and has the expertise to keep our company moving forward as a responsible, thoughtful developer and investor.”
In response to the promotion, Moody said, “I’m excited and humbled to continue managing and growing The Mathews Company portfolio and carrying on the commitment to this community established for generations by the Mathews family. The commercial real estate community in Nashville is unique. We work together and learn from each other on projects for which we have often competed.”
Moody is a graduate of Vanderbilt University and initially interned at The Mathews Company while completing his graduate degree at Emory University. He rejoined the company for several years after completing his MBA, before serving as Vice President of the Affordable Housing Division of GMAC Commercial Mortgage, where he managed a team responsible for underwriting and closing more than $1 billion of tax-exempt bond transactions for multifamily affordable housing.
He returned to The Mathews Company in 2006 and is responsible for acquisitions, dispositions, capital markets activity, investor relations, and asset management. He is an active member of the Urban Land Institute, where he chairs the Capital Markets Action Council in Nashville and is the current Chairman of the Small-Scale Development Product Council. He is a former Adjunct Professor at the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt.
