Sustaining Nashville Report Explores How Nashville’s Affordable Housing Can be Built Sustainable and Resilient.
In June, ULI Nashville partnered with the Metro Nashville Housing Division and the ULI Terwilliger Center for Housing to ask a question posed by the Housing Division, “What is reasonable to require of affordable housing developers in building housing that sustainable, resilient, and affordable?”
ULI Nashville and the Terwilliger Center convened local and national experts to research and discuss the question. This Technical Assistance Panel (TAP) resulted in a report that is now available on Knowledge Finder.
The Sustaining Nashville TAP addresses the intersection of two of ULI’s mission priorities – increasing attainable housing and building for sustainability/resilience. To achieve the city’s goals, the TAP proposed changes to
Credit is due to the Metro Housing Division for the forethought to look at how affordable housing can be built to protect members of Nashville’s community who are least financially able to bounce back from severe weather events, which are increasing in rate and severity due to climate change. The findings from the Sustaining Nashville report were provided to Metro Housing Division’s consultants working on the city’s forthcoming Unified Housing Strategy.
