About the Speaker:
Gary Gaston is the CEO of the Civic Design Center, and serves as Assistant Professor of Practice at the University of Tennessee Knoxville College of Architecture + Design. He received his Bachelor of Architecture from UTK, and a M.Ed. in Community Development and Action from Vanderbilt.
Gaston has helped lead numerous planning and design efforts for the Civic Design Center during his 20-year tenure, including its visionary The Plan of Nashville: Avenues to a Great City, published in 2005. Gaston has also co-authored two more books with the Design Center focused on health and regional transportation.
Gaston has received many recognitions including the Tau Sigma Delta Honor Society Silver Medal “for extraordinary efforts to advance the field of design in the region” and Young Leaders Council’s “Leader of the Year.” He currently serves on the Board of Directors of The District and is a member of the Rotary Club of Nashville.
About the Lunch with a Leader Series:
Lunch with a Leader offers informal lunch discussions that provide NEXT members with the opportunity for a small-group discussion with key leaders from Nashville. Past speakers have included Charles Robert Bone, President/CEO of Bone McAllester Norton PLLC, Courtney Ross, Chief Economic Development Officer, Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, Tony Giarratanna, President, Giarratanna, LLC, and the Goldberg Brothers of Strategic Hospitality.
