The 19‐acre Bicentennial Mall opened in 1996 and was cited in 2011 by the American Planners Association as one of the top ten public spaces in the United States. However, the Mall master plan is only now coming to fruition with the addition of Nashville’s new baseball stadium, First Tennessee Park, in 2015; the Tennessee State Museum in 2018; and the new Tennessee Library and Archives (under construction). See how public dollars have spurred robust private development of apartments, shops, and restaurants. Participants will also see how the adjacent lovely historic neighborhoods of Germantown and Salemtown have been transformed from immigrant communities to industrial manufacturing and now to vibrant, exciting, in‐demand urban neighborhoods with this new injection of investment and institutions in North Nashville.
