As Nashville’s symbolic front porch, the Cumberland River serves as its welcome mat for visitors and residents alike. Go behind “the door” on this walking tour and learn what it took to rebuild a decaying, ignored historic entryway as a hub of activity and investment that helped catalyze the boom in Nashville’s central business district. The tour will begin with Nashville’s newest award‐winning music venue in Riverfront Park, located at the nexus of greenway, blueway, bicycle, and pedestrian connections. Visit a vibrant downtown mixed‐use neighborhood, including historic properties and new housing for Nashville’s artists, and learn about the latest high‐rise trying to get near the riverfront. The tour will stop at an eight‐acre interactive children’s play area—a ULI Open Space Award finalist—and finish at a historic barge building, adapted for use by environmentally conscious tenants and events, and providing one of the city’s best views down Broadway!
