Spring-Fall 2020: Face-to-Face Conversation Series
Part 2: Spring-Fall 2020
Face-to-Face: Conversation Series for Learning & Listening
The Fishbowl conversation served as a valuable first step, but the Covid-19 crisis temporarily postponed immediate next steps. However, the recent movement on racial anti-discrimination and equity highlighted the need to continue this process without further delay. Summer 2020, the first of a four-part Face-to-Face conversation series was launched. These monthly discussions allowed participants to learn and listen about more specific topics, face-to-face albeit virtually.
This series was designed to be a convening to share content and ideas and to be a lead in to subsequently developing action steps in the next phase. Face-to-Face topics highlighted in the sessions were the history of racism and land use, public policy and process, community engagement, and creative financing. The sessions were enriched by relevant discussion material and knowledgeable opening speakers. At the end of each session, participants submitted ideas for specific action steps in the area of discussion. These ideas led the development of Part 3 of this initiative.
